Biography

I received my BSc, MSc and PhD degrees all in petroleum engineering from Amirkabir University of ‎Technology (AUT), Tehran, Iran. My PhD focused on the multi-physical and multi-scale characterization of ‎shale gas resources in the Lurestan Basin, Iran, and numerical simulation of hydro-fracturing and hydro-‎shearing in these reservoirs within the theoretical framework of plasticity and damage mechanics. After ‎my PhD, I joined Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz as a Lecturer (September 2018 – September 2019). ‎Since January 2020, I have been a postdoc at Spanish National Research Council (IDAEA-CSIC). I was part of the ‎GEoREST team (January 2020 – December 2021), developing novel approaches to predict and mitigate ‎injection-induced seismicity. I have been conducting research on coupled THMC processes of geologic CO2 ‎storage as a Juan de la Cierva-incorporación postdoc fellow (January 2022 – April 2022), and from May ‎‎2022 as a Marie-Curie Postdoc fellow.‎

I am interested in hydrogeology, coupled processes of porous and fractured rocks and geomechanics of ‎low-carbon geo-energies. I combine theory, experiments and state-of-the-art modeling to develop a deep ‎understanding of the subsurface potential to accelerate the world transition to a low-carbon future and ‎meet the ambitious climate targets. ‎
